Neduvasal Project — In Progress
Neduvasal Project -One Headmaster’s attempt to modernize primary education for needy young kids in a govt school that was oft considered as a punishment school with poor connectivity, frequent students’, teachers’ absenteeism. His methodology of leveraging various government schemes, fundings from NGOs and trusts have proven instrumental in developing the infrastructure of the school and the nearby village, earning trust and respect of the locals. Rightly so, it has been bestowed “The Best school in the state “for holistic development by State Education Board on Aug 15,2010. To scale up this success by extending to the children in the vicinity and to cement the nutritional deficiency of the children in the school our team initiated the ”NAVADHANYA scheme“- Daily Morning nutrients ingredient drink for 70 students of the school through quarterly commitment of 20,000 for it and extended scholarships ( books, uniforms, need based funding) to 20 needy students across different standards.

![]() | Good Neighbors India, an NGO started in 2009 is currently working with Chikkajala, Bangalore quarry workers to run a day-care center. These parents are migrated from Northern Karnataka, Tamilnadu and part of AndraPradesh. The youth and adolescents living in the quarry area in Chikkajala are a group who are lacking educational and employment opportunities. The children of these families are dropped out from the school, to come along with the parents to work. Hence many of them are without any other option but to follow the footsteps of their parents. The girls are married away in a very young age, their dreams remain as dreams, the boys frustrated end up working for other unskilled jobs and this life style does not augur well for the development of this community. Dollar-a-Day in collaboration with Good Neighbors India is planning to address the vocational needs of the youth/adolescents. The program envisaged, is to run a professional training center in-collaboration with hiring-firms to train them with job oriented skills (tailoring, communication etc), and follow-up with placing them in their first jobs. DaD is working currently with Meena(Project manager), Muniraj(Director) of Good Neighbor India to finalize the implementation plan/deliverables. | GNI Director (Muniraj): muniraj1960@gmail.com GNI-Chikkajala Project Manager (Meena) meenaarun88@gmail.com | Vignesh M | Not-Funded as of Oct 2011 In Research: In-Person-Due-Diligence-Visit to Chikkajala done by Vignesh.
